Khara Bath

Suji/Rava is the key ingredient in this masala upma. Khara Bath masala powder is an essential spice mix for this upma recipe.
Ingredient
Dry roast the rava over low heat until it becomes light brown and a subtle roasted aroma is released.
Step 1
Dry roast the whole spices in a pan for 3 – 4 minutes. Blend to a powder. Khara Bath Masala is ready!
Step 2
Heat ghee. Once the ghee is hot, add mustard seeds, white urad, ginger, asafoetida (hing), and curry leaves.
Step 3
Add peanuts, cashew, onion, and vegetables. Fry for 2 – 3 minutes.
Step 4
Now, add roasted rava. Mix nicely. Fry again for 1 minute.
Step 5
Add water and khara bath masala powder, and continuously stir the upma to avoid lump formation.
Step 6
Once semolina is cooked, add ghee, grated coconut, lemon juice, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix nicely.
Step 7
Khara Bath is ready to serve!
