Matar Paratha

Green Peas are the key ingredient of this paratha recipe. You can use fresh or frozen peas. 

Ingredients

Make a paste of green peas in a mixer without using water.

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan. Fry cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger, green peas paste, spices, and salt.

Step 2

Add gram flour, mix and cook for 5 minutes. Turn off  heat and allow the filling to cool down

Step 3

Using whole wheat flour, salt, and water prepare a chapati like dough for the paratha outer layer.

Step 4

Divide the dough into equal balls.

Step 5

Roll out this ball into a small disc about 3 inches in diameter. 

Step 6

Add one tablespoon of the peas stuffing in the center of the rolled out disc.

Step 7

Bring together the edges of the dough to seal the peas stuffing.

Roll the stuffed paratha lightly to the size of a chapati or roti.

Step 9

Smear a teaspoon of ghee on each side of paratha, gently press it and cook till crisp from both sides.

Step 10

Serve Matar Paratha warm with raita, pickle
